Summer break hits different when you're a mom and a business owner. The structure we’re used to during the school year goes out the window, and suddenly the days are longer - but somehow still feel shorter? 😅

As a mompreneur, I’ve learned that having a flexible summer schedule is key. It’s not as tight as our school-year routine, but I still carve out time for both my business and my kids - and that balance helps me feel grounded, productive, and present.
Here’s how I’m making it work this summer:
We keep it simple:
Mornings are slow and easy (PJs, porch time, and cartoons)
Midday is for outings, lunch, or summer camp
Afternoons are quiet time or craft time (check out our DIY summer craft blog)
Evenings are for dinner, outside play, and winding down
This gives our day a gentle rhythm without feeling too scheduled.

When I don’t block time, I don’t get anything done. I look at our week ahead and plug in focused work time when:
The kids are at summer camp (game-changer!)
They’re playing independently or watching a movie
I wake up early before they do - even 45 minutes helps
These chunks are when I update the shop, prep for fall/Q4, work on bulk orders, or plan out content.

Not every day needs to be productive. Some days we do nothing and that’s okay. I believe bored kids are creative kids - and moms need slow days too. Whether we’re doing sidewalk chalk or just watching clouds, those are the memories that matter.

I use summer to prep for my busiest season - fall and the holidays. I’ll be working behind the scenes on:
Our back-to-school & fall collections
Wholesale orders and bulk pricing
Holiday content planning and product photography
Even if I can only get a little done each week, it adds up - and my future self will thank me!
If you’re a mom trying to juggle it all this summer, just know you’re not alone. Some days we thrive, some days we survive. My goal isn’t perfection - it’s presence. And that looks different every day.
