CHD (Congenital Heart Disease) Awareness Month is observed annually during the month of February to raise awareness about the most common birth defect in the world, which affects approximately 1 in 100 babies. The goal of CHD Awareness Month is to educate the public about congenital heart defects and the impact they have on individuals and families, as well as to advocate for increased funding for research and improved access to care for those affected by CHD.
During CHD Awareness Month, various organizations and groups, such as the American Heart Association and the Children's Heart Foundation, host events and initiatives to spread awareness and support research efforts. This can include educational campaigns, fundraising events, and social media campaigns to raise awareness about CHD and its impact on individuals and families.
The hope is that increased awareness and understanding of CHD will lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment, improved outcomes, and a better quality of life for those affected by this condition. Mackenzie Madison of Philadelphia began when Mackenzie was born with an AVSD. As pictured above, her heart did not form properly. We were diagnosed while I was just six months pregnant. Not many educational resources were available then. As our business grows, we continue to donate care bags for families currently in-patient, as their heart warriors fight.
