One of my favorite things about fall is finding simple ways to make memories with my girls. And sometimes, that means grabbing our favorite snacks, getting cozy on the couch, and having a Halloween movie night!
Now that my girls are 13 and 11, our movie nights look a little different. Last weekend, we watched Final Destination because they've been begging to watch scarier movies. Whew, we've definitely moved on from the Disney Channel Halloween days! 😂

But whether you have little ones who love a little Halloween magic or bigger kids who are ready for something spooky, a family movie night is such an easy way to spend time together.
Here are some Halloween movie favorites to add to your family's watchlist!
These are perfect for families who want a little Halloween fun without too many scares.
Halloweentown – A Disney Channel classic filled with witches, magic, and Halloween adventures.
Hocus Pocus – The Sanderson sisters are a Halloween tradition! A little spooky, but full of laughs.
Under Wraps – A fun mummy adventure with friendship and plenty of silly moments.
Twitches & Twitches Too – Twin sisters, magical powers, and a little mystery. We love a good Disney Channel throwback!
Casper – A sweet story about a friendly ghost, with a few spooky moments.
Hotel Transylvania – A fun animated pick with monsters, humor, and lots of laughs.
Mom tip: Some of these movies have spooky scenes that might be a little much for sensitive younger viewers, so choose based on what your kids enjoy!
If your kids are getting older and asking for something a little scarier, these are some fun options to consider.
Don't Look Under the Bed – One of Disney Channel's creepier original movies. My now 11 year old was terrified of this a few years ago!
Edward Scissorhands – A quirky, emotional movie with a gothic feel. Not traditional horror, but perfect for a fall movie night.
We Have a Ghost – A mix of comedy, mystery, and supernatural adventure.
Hubie Halloween – A goofy Halloween comedy with Adam Sandler and plenty of silly moments.
Ghostbusters – A classic supernatural comedy with ghosts, laughs, and a little action.
Beetlejuice – A Halloween favorite filled with strange characters and dark humor.
Final Destination – Definitely for older, horror-ready teens! This one has intense, graphic death scenes and is rated R, so it's not your typical family Halloween movie.
Every family has different comfort levels when it comes to scary movies. I always recommend checking the rating and content before pressing play, especially with younger kids.
The best part? You don't need to spend a ton of money or plan anything elaborate to make the night special.

Here are a few easy ideas:
Create a snack station. Popcorn, candy corn, pretzels, and your family's favorite treats.
Get cozy. Bring out the blankets, pillows, and Halloween pajamas.
Let the kids pick. Have everyone choose a movie and vote on what to watch.
Make a Halloween drink. Try orange punch or hot chocolate with whipped cream and festive sprinkles.
Put the phones away. Enjoy a little uninterrupted family time together.
And don't forget to snap a photo! These are the little moments you'll love looking back on.
As my girls get older, I'm realizing just how special these simple moments are. The movies may change, and the snacks might disappear a little faster, but I love that we can still enjoy these traditions together.
Whether you're watching Halloweentown for the hundredth time or introducing your older kids to something a little scarier, I hope you make time for a cozy Halloween movie night this season.
Happy Halloween, mamas! 🧡
