If you’re looking for a family-friendly activity in Philadelphia this fall, let me put you on to something magical: The Snow Queen at The Wilma Theater.

My family and I were invited to their preview performance, and we had the best time - like belly-laughing, “did that just happen?” entertainment that had all of us locked in from start to finish. And if you know my kids, you know keeping them fully engaged in a theater seat is a miracle in itself.
Here’s everything you need to know before you go - mom to mom.

The Wilma describes The Snow Queen as perfect for ages 6 and up, and I completely agree. There’s humor for the kids, clever jokes for the adults, gorgeous visuals, and a whole lot of heart. It's on stage now until November 23rd.
Our absolute favorite? The Storyteller.
THEY had the entire theatre cracking up. Every time they walked on stage, you knew something funny was coming.
The stage animations were awesome - lots of movement, winter magic, and creative lighting that brought the story to life.
There are a few moments where the theatre goes into total darkness, but only for a couple seconds at a time. Just mentioning it for families with sensory-sensitive kiddos.

One thing I loved?
The Wilma is intimate without feeling cramped.
You know how some theaters make you feel like you need binoculars even if you’re in row 10? Not here. Every seat feels close to the stage, which makes the kids feel like they’re in the story - not just watching it.
If you have autoimmune kiddos or you just like to play it safe, I definitely recommend bringing masks. The space is cozy, and you’re pretty close to other families.
There’s a super cute café in the lobby - holiday-themed drinks, snacks, and a warm vibe that makes the whole experience feel special.
Great spot to relax before finding your seats.
If your family is like mine and you always need “just one more snack” before any activity… you’ll appreciate this.

As a Philly mom, I’m always on the hunt for new things to do in Philly with kids, and this show checks every single box:
✔️ Family-friendly
✔️ Funny for both kids and adults
✔️ Beautiful stage visuals
✔️ Memorable experience
✔️ Perfect fall + winter activity
✔️ Indoor (so no stressing about weather)
✔️ Right in the heart of the city
Whether you’re looking for a fall weekend activity, a holiday gift experience, or something cozy to do during winter break - The Snow Queen should be on your list.
