It's spring break! Looking for things to do with your kids during their break from school? We've complied a list of things to do in Philly during spring break and Easter!
Visit Museums
Philadelphia is home to many amazing museums! And there's so many that are perfect for kids! If you're a longtime Philly Mama like me then I'm sure you've been to most (if not all) of the museums in our area. But, have you checked out the newest exhibits? The Franklin Institute's Disney100 exhibit is perfect for your Disney lover! The Please Touch Museum's Inside Out interactive exhibition is all about feelings, imagination, and memories! A must for your little ones! The Academy of Natural Science's Conversations with Birds exhibit celebrates the many birds of Philly! If you've got an animal lover they'll love that one!
If you're a PA Access Card holder don't forget that many museums offer a discounted rate of $2 per person. Museums include: The African American Museum, the American Helicopter Museum & Education Center, the Betsy Ross House, and more! Check out the full list of museums here.
Philly Amusement Park Fun
We're surrounded by many fun amusement parks! Six Flags Great Adventure is open for some spring break fun! Plus, they're running a sale on their season passes so you can visit all summer long!
Sesame Place is open for Elmo's Eggstravaganza! Meet Elmo and gang plus the Easter bunny! Storybook Land just over the bridge, in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, is open this weekend (excluding Easter Sunday) for some storybook fun! And while you're over in Jersey, the FunPlex in Mount Laurel has great spring break deals going on. The FunPlex is basically an indoor amusement park with arcade games - SO much fun!
Free Things to Do in Philly with Kids During Spring Break
You don't need to spend money to enjoy spring break with your children! There's so many great things to do in Philadelphia with kids! We recently visited the Fireman's Hall Museum in Old City Philadelphia. The museum is in the renovated Union Fire Company house - the first volunteer fire station in Philadelphia - founded by Benjamin Franklin. Admission is free, donations are greatly appreciated. This firehouse is home to so much history! We enjoyed exploring this museum plus the fire prevention safety tips were great!
Learn how money is made at the US Mint self-guided tour. All tours are free and take approximately 45 minutes to complete. No reservations are necessary with hours from 9am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
Smith Memorial Playground is a must! Recommended for kids ages 12 years and younger - burn some energy (we're sure the kiddos have tons of it) while exploring the 6 1/2 acres of fun! Free visiting hours are Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-4/5pm. Donations are greatly appreciated! Speaking of playgrounds, there are wonderful playgrounds throughout the city! Pack a lunch and enjoy an afternoon in the sun, the weather looks amazing this week!
Kids bowl free all spring and summer at participating bowling alleys! Thunderbird Lanes on Holmes Ave offers two (2) free games of bowling for kids ages 3-15 during the spring and summer. Register your kids and enjoy two games of bowling!
I hope you've found this list of things to do with kids helpful! We really enjoy all of the wonderful activities Philly has to offer! It looks like we will be spending most of our days at local playgrounds since my girls are excited to be out in the sun! If you do end up doing something from this list, tag us on Instagram or Facebook with the handle @MMofPhilly! We'd love to see all of the fun you're having!
