The holidays in Philly just hit different - twinkling lights, music everywhere, and so many festive spots to explore with your kids. But here’s the best part: some of the city’s most magical experiences are completely FREE.
If you’re looking for cozy, family-friendly fun without spending a dime, here are 5 must-do holiday activities for Philly families this season.

This classic Philly tradition never gets old. Inside Macy’s at 13th & Market, kids can watch the giant light show dance across the Grand Court while hearing holiday music echo through the building.
It’s magical - and totally free.
Mom tip: Go earlier in the day to avoid peak crowds.

Franklin Square turns into a glowing winter wonderland with fountains that “dance” to holiday music. Kids LOVE watching the lights sync with the water - and you can enjoy it all without spending a dollar.
Bonus: There’s plenty of space for little ones to run around.

This free indoor/outdoor display features dozens of beautifully decorated trees created by local designers and community groups. It’s colorful, festive, and makes for the cutest family photos.
Mom tip: Visit around sunset for the best lighting.

Warm, indoors, and stunning - the 15-minute Holiday Spectacular on the massive Comcast Center LED wall is a must-see. Kids love the music, the animated scenes, and the “snow” moments on screen.
It runs every hour and is completely free.

Right outside City Hall, the Wintergarden is filled with lights, trees, pathways, and magical decor. It’s totally free to walk through and perfect for quick outings, photos, or a cozy nighttime stroll.
Bonus: The big holiday tree nearby is gorgeous.
Philly is full of holiday magic - and you don’t have to break your budget to enjoy it. Bundle up the kids, grab a warm drink, and explore the city’s festive spots all season long.
Happy holidays, Philly families!
