Looking for a meaningful way to celebrate Black History Month with your family? Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse is hosting a free Black History Month exhibit from February 4-28, 2025, honoring African American leaders and legends who have made a lasting impact on Philadelphia and beyond.
This special exhibit, titled "Leaders and Legends," highlights influential Black leaders in politics, media, sports, education, and community activism. Families will have the opportunity to explore inspiring stories and learn about figures such as:
✨ Mayor Michael Nutter
✨ Mo’ne Davis (Philly’s Little League Baseball star)
✨ Quinta Brunson (creator of Abbott Elementary)
✨ Dr. Ala Stanford (healthcare leader)
✨ Patty Jackson (radio legend)
✨ And many more!
Through large-scale portraits and engaging storytelling, kids and parents alike will be able to connect with local history in an interactive way.
This family-friendly event is a great way to spark conversations with your children about Black excellence, resilience, and leadership. Whether you’re looking to teach your kids about history or simply enjoy an inspiring day out, this exhibit is a must-see.
🌟 Tip: Pair your visit with a stop at Smith Playground’s outdoor play space for a full day of learning and fun!
