Fall in Philly is pretty magical! Especially with kids! From pumpkin patches to haunted houses, there's so much to do during fall in Philadelphia with your children.

Local Farms, Loads of Fall Fun

Plan to visit a few of the many local farms surrounding Philadelphia! 

• Shady Brook Farm's Fall Fest is great for the entire family! Visit the pumpkin patch, enjoy live music, and take a hayride through the Eerie Illuminations light show! Shady Brook Farm's Fall Fest begins September 8th! Reserve a fire pit and enjoy a beautiful fall night on Shady Brook farm!

• Pumpkinland at Linvilla Orchards is a classic! If you grew up in the area, I'm sure your school had at least one field trip to Linvilla! Looking for that perfect 'Lifetime Movie' aesthetic? Don't skip Linvilla! From apple cider slushies to hayrides - this is one of the best farms near Philly!

• Johnson's Corner Farm is right over the bridge in Medford, NJ. If you've never been, we highly recommend you plan a day to visit this adorable farm! Fall activities begin September 9th and run through October 31st! Take a hayride to pick apples, pumpkins, and other seasonal fruits & veggies! Explore the amazing farmhouse for ALL of the holiday decor! And don't forget to plan some time in the Barnyard to feed the barn animals! Johnson's also has a huge playground. I guarantee your kiddos will want to spend hours riding the go karts, climbing the obstacle courses, and splashing in the splash pad (weather permitting).

• The Harvest Hayride at Arasapha Farm opens September 23rd! This is a great, family friendly farm with lots to do for everyone! Every year the corn maze gets better and better! This farm is in Glen Mills, PA!

• Enjoy Fall Weekends at Highland Orchards with apple cider donuts and pumpkin picking! This working, family farm is located in West Chester, PA about 25-30 minutes from Philadelphia. Pick your own apples and pumpkins but don't forget to grab a dozen (or two) of those delicious apple cider donuts!

• Hellerick's Family Farm is in Bucks County, PA. This 18 acre farm has a 5 acre fall corn maze, farm animals, slides, and various playgrounds. Pick your own apples, pumpkins, and so much more! Fall begins September 14th on the farm!

If traveling outside of the city is tough, don't worry! The city embraces the fall season with festivals and more!

Longwood Gardens' Pumpkin Playground

Enjoy a beautiful afternoon at Longwood Gardens' pumpkin playground! 

Spooky Mini Golf at Franklin Square

Starting October 1st through the 31st, Philly Mini Golf at the historic Franklin Square in Center City is one fall event you won't want to miss! The 16-hole miniature golf course turns spooky with fog, lights, and halloween themed music! Spooky Mini Golf runs from 6pm-9pm; adults $15, children $12. Access card discounts are not valid for holiday attractions.  

Spooky Twilight Tours

Continuing on with our spooky celebration, stroll over to Betsy Ross' House for a spooktacular tour of Philadelphia in the 1700's. You'll learn about the gruesome history of Philly's fight against infection and more. Tours begin October 13th and are not intended for smaller children.

Fall Fun Near Philadelphia

Peddler's Village's Scarecrow Walk is a great attraction to visit. Walk the charming, storybook streets while viewing amazingly spooky scarecrows. Visit during the Scarecrow Festival (September 16th & 17th) to take a scarecrow making class!

The Delaware River Festival happens at Pennslanding on September 9th from 10am-4pm! Celebrate what brings people together with ferry boat rides, museum visits, pedal bikes, and so much more! This event is free to attend!

The East Passyunk Music Festival is a great way to kick off the fall season! Enjoy live music, good foods, and shops! Music by DJ DiamondKuts, Cosmo Baker, and more. This happens Sunday, September 10th!

The Fall for Ardmore Festival celebrates 150 years of Ardmore with live music, drinks, kids' activities, shopping, and more! This event happens September 30th!

The Kimmel Center will host their Philadelphia Fall Arts Fest on Saturday, September 22nd. This free event will have live performances and fun activities! Be sure to RSVP.

The Roxtober Fest happens October 7th in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia! Live music, activities for kids, and lots of beer!

Chestnut Hill's Fall for the Arts Festival is back again for another year! Enjoy live music, food, and shopping with local vendors! This event happens October 8th from 11am to 5pm.
