Celebrate Black authors and community this Juneteenth weekend
Looking for a meaningful (and fun!) way to celebrate Juneteenth in Philadelphia with your kids? 📚✨ Make a stop at Reading Terminal Market on Saturday, June 15, 2024, for a free Juneteenth Book Signing hosted in partnership with Harriett’s Bookshop - one of Philly’s favorite Black woman-owned bookstores.
🗓 Saturday, June 15, 2024
🕚 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
📍 Reading Terminal Market (Center Court)
Meet local Black authors, grab a signed copy of their books, and explore powerful stories that celebrate freedom, joy, and Black culture. It’s a great opportunity for kids to see authors who look like them - and for parents to stock up on meaningful summer reads.
Juneteenth is about more than just cookouts - it’s about education, empowerment, and connection. This book signing event gives your family a chance to celebrate Black voices, support Black businesses, and introduce your little ones to storytelling that matters.
It’s also free, indoors (hello, A/C!), and right in the heart of Center City - so you can explore the market, grab lunch, and turn it into a full family outing.
👶 Moms and dads with toddlers, kids, or teens
📚 Teachers or homeschoolers looking to add to their classroom libraries
🤎 Anyone who wants to support local Black authors and bookstores this Juneteenth
Whether you're new to celebrating Juneteenth or it’s a family tradition, this is a Philly event you won’t want to miss. Come for the books, stay for the food, and leave with stories that will stick with your kids long after the holiday.
