If you’re looking for a free, fun, outdoor spot to take the kids this summer, The Oval on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway is officially back - and it’s better than ever!

This colorful, family-friendly pop-up space turns the Parkway into a playful hangout for the whole crew. Whether you’re planning a playdate, afternoon picnic, or just need to get out of the house, The Oval is totally worth a visit.
From July 11–August 25, 2025, The Oval will be filled with:
🌈 Bright murals and play zones
🎨 Free arts & crafts and creative workshops
🧺 Open green space for lounging, games, and picnics
🎶 Live performances, food trucks, and family movie nights
It’s located right at Eakins Oval, across from the Philadelphia Museum of Art — a perfect central spot for city families or a weekend adventure.
It's stroller-friendly and fenced in
There’s something for every age group - from toddlers to tweens
You can BYO snacks or grab a bite from the rotating food trucks
There’s plenty of shade, especially for those hot days
Bonus: It’s easy to pair a visit to The Oval with a museum trip or a splash at Sister Cities Park.
